Extraction usually happens the same day
Removing standing sewage and water is the fastest part of the process. For most residential jobs, extraction and initial cleanup can be completed within a few hours of arrival.
Disinfection adds another pass
Every surface the sewage touched has to be cleaned and disinfected with hospital-grade products, which takes longer than a normal cleaning and can't be rushed if it's going to actually neutralize contamination.
Removed materials extend the timeline
If carpet, carpet pad, or drywall near the floor line has to come out, demolition and disposal add time beyond the initial cleanup — often a separate visit from the extraction itself.
Structural drying is the longest phase
Once contaminated materials are removed or disinfected, drying equipment typically runs for several days to bring moisture in the subfloor and framing back to normal levels before the job is considered complete.
Why we don't quote a single number upfront
How far the sewage traveled, what it touched, and how quickly the crew was called all affect the timeline, so we give a realistic estimate after seeing the actual damage rather than a generic figure.
